Apple unveiled its new iPad. Although there were rumors saying that this item would be called iPad 3 or iPad HD, at the end it will be known just as the new iPad.
The presentation of the new version of this tablet computer was made by Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, yesterday in San Francisco.
The most remarkable characteristic of the new iPad is the quality of its display, that will have a size of 9.7 inches and a resolution of 2048x1539 pixels. Apple calls this technology "Retina Display" because the pixel density is so high that the eye of the user is unable to distinguish individual pixels.
The new device will be available in stores in the U.S. and other countries since next Friday, March 16, with prices that will start at $499 and will vary depending on the model.
Besides its sophisticated display, the new iPad will have features such as a 5-megapixel camera and 1080p video recording. The battery will last 10 hours and buyers will be able to choose between a black and a white model.
